Sola Civil Hospital doctor shifted to non-medical duty after misconduct row | Ahmedabad News - The Times of India

Ahmedabad: A woman resident doctor posted in the paediatric ward of Sola Civil Hospital has been transferred to non-medical duty for a month after the hospital superintendent ordered an inquiry into allegations of misconduct. Officials from the state health department said the inquiry must be completed within 10 days.According to hospital sources, the incident took place on Sunday night, when the doctor allegedly misbehaved with the relatives of a young girl admitted with fever and persistent coughing. The girl's uncle was reportedly recording a video when the doctor tried to knock the phone away, allegedly hitting some relatives in the process. She then allegedly refused to treat the girl, following which the matter was reported to the chief medical officer (CMO). The child was later examined, prescribed medicines, and discharged.A video of the altercation went viral, drawing the attention of health department officials. Minister of state for health Praful Pansheriya subsequently ordered a probe into the incident.Hospital authorities said the doctor has been shifted to clinical research duties, and the inquiry will include examination of CCTV footage and statements from both sides to determine the sequence of events.
