Hyderabad: The family of Shaik Riyaz, who was allegedly killed in a police encounter on Oct 20, appeared before Telangana State Human Rights Commission (TGHRC) on Monday, alleging harassment and denial of access to their home in Nizamabad by police. TGHRC ordered that "no coercive measures or acts of harassment be taken against any member of Riyaz's family".In their complaint, Riyaz's mother, wife and two minor children claimed they were being "physically tortured and subjected to third-degree methods". They also alleged that police constable E Pramod Kumar had demanded 3 lakh from Riyaz, of which 30,000 was already paid, and that fraudulent financial dealings occurred between them.The commission earlier took suo motu cognizance of the encounter and directed the director general of police (DGP) to file a factual report by Nov 24.
