Mandya: Deputy commissioner Kumara instructed the officials concerned to take necessary measures for the eradication of tuberculosis (TB) in the district. Currently, 710 patients are receiving TB treatment in the district. He expressed happiness that the number of TB cases in the district is decreasing every year.Presiding over the District Level TB Forum meeting organised at the deputy commissioner's office on Monday, he stated that free TB testing is being conducted for those suffering from TB symptoms, including diabetics, smokers, cancer patients, the elderly, children, and those suffering from malnutrition.Compared to the TB rate in 2015, the number of TB patients in the district has decreased by 20% in 2022. In 2022, the Central TB Division honoured the district with a bronze medal.The DC said that the district has 4 CBNAAT (Cartridge-Based Nucleic Acid Amplification Test) machines, which can detect TB from a person's sputum in just 2 hours if they have symptoms. Patients confirmed with TB will be provided with free medicines by ASHA workers for a period of 6 months, and they will be supervised while taking the dosage. Taking medicines for a minimum of 10 days can prevent the spread of TB to others. TB patients should remain in a ventilated space and wear a mask. He also mentioned that TB patients will be provided with Rs 1,000 per month under the Union Govt's Nikshay Poshan Yojana for their nutritional needs.Kumara instructed that TB-free gram panchayats should be declared every year in the district. Gram panchayats with fewer TB cases and meeting the eligibility criteria will be declared as TB-free gram panchayats. He provided information that 16 gram panchayats in 2023, 41 gram panchayats in 2024, and an estimated 67 gram panchayats in the current year have been identified as TB-free gram panchayats. MahaRERA has so far issued 1,163 warrants worth ₹705.62 crore involving 442 real estate projects in Maharashtra. Of this, the MahaRERA has recovered around 29% or around ₹200 crore.
