Odisha youth found dead in hostel room in Kota | Bhubaneswar News - The Times of India

BHUBANESWAR: A 24-year-old youth from Odisha's Ganjam district was found dead in his hostel room in Kota, Rajasthan, on Saturday. He was preparing for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) at a reputed coaching institute in Kota city. An investigation into the matter is underway.The youth, Roshan Patra, hailed from Abhaypur village under Patrapur block in Ganjam district and was staying in Kota for the last four months. He was residing at Rajiv Gandhi Nagar in Kota. His cousin was also staying in his hostel.The deceased's father, Radha Shyam Patra, told the media that he called him on Friday and talked to him for around 30 minutes. "He also talked to his mother through a video call on Friday. After finishing dinner, he continued his study till midnight. On Saturday morning, his cousin knocked on the door of Roshan's room, but the door was not opened," he added.Radha Shyam said Roshan's cousin went to attend his coaching class after the door was not opened. "After returning from his coaching class at around 12:30 pm, he again knocked on the door of Roshan's room. He informed the warden and hostel staff after he did not get any response from Roshan," he added.The father said the room was opened with the help of hostel staff. "Roshan was lying on the bed, and blood was oozing out of his mouth and nose," he added.Police reached the spot and started investigating the matter. Radha Shyam, who is staying in Odisha, along with a relative, reached the hostel. A postmortem was conducted in Kota. They will bring the body of the boy to Ganjam.
