Kota: An 18-year-old NEET aspirant from Mayurbhanj district was found dead in his hostel room in Kota on Thursday night. Police suspect it to be a suicide but the reason for the extreme step is yet to be ascertained as no suicide note has been found. This is the third case of suicide by a coaching student this year in Kota, which had witnessed 17 such cases in 2024. Abhijeet Giri was preparing for the medical entrance exam at a coaching institute in the city since April 2024. According to preliminary inquiry, he was good in studies and was a regular in attending coaching classes. Around 8 pm on Thursday, a hostel mess worker reached Abhijeet's room to deliver his tiffin. "When he did not respond, the mess boy, along with two-three other students from the hostel, forcibly opened the door and found Abhijeet dead," ASI Lal Singh Tanwar of Vigyan Nagar police station told TOI on Friday. The student's family members have been informed, and police are waiting for them to arrive to get the autopsy done.
