Pune: At least 30 electric scooters were damaged in a fire that broke out in a service centre of an e-scooter company in Wakad in the early hours of Tuesday.No one was injured in the incident.Five firefighting tenders of the Pimpri Chinchwad fire brigade were pressed into service. It took two hours for the firefighters to douse the fire completely.Fire officer Gautam Ingawale of the Pimpri Chinchwad fire brigade told TOI that the electric scooter company's showroom and service centre is located in the Shedge Vasti area of Wakad."The fire brigade received a call about the blaze around 2.40am on Tuesday. Five vehicles from different fire stations of the Pimpri Chinchwad fire brigade were sent to the spot. The service centre was in the tin shade and next to a restaurant," Ingawale said.The firefighters used foam and water to douse the fire. "The fire spread to the restaurant, and a part of the kitchen was damaged by the flames," he said.Ingawale said there was a high-tension electric supply wire passing near the spot. "We first doused the fire from that area to avert any untoward incident," he said.Rocket causes blaze in flatA curtain in a flat on the 10th floor of a residential building in Phursungi caught fire late on Monday night after a stray rocket fell on it. No one sustained injuries as the flat was unoccupied. Vilas Dadas from the Pune fire brigade said that around 10.30pm, some material kept on the balcony caught fire after a rocket fell on it. The sliding doors of the balcony melted, and a curtain caught fire."A resident from the other building noticed the fire and alerted us. We reached the flat and broke open the locks. By that time, the sofa in the living room, too, caught fire. We doused the fire by using the firefighting system in the building," Dadas said.Over 37 fire incidents reported on TuesdayAs many as 77 incidents of fire have been reported since Monday in Pimpri Chinchwad and Pune. Of these, 37 cases of fire caused by firecrackers were reported between 5pm and 11pm on Tuesday.These incidents were reported in the Warje, Narhe, Kalepadal, Budhwar Peth, Kasba Peth, Bhavani Peth, Vimannagar, Manjari and Dhayari Phata areas.A fire also broke out on the seventh floor of a building in Chinchwad.
