Srinagar, Oct 20: Security forces in South Kashmir's Shopian district on Monday successfully detected and destroyed an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the Heff area, preventing a potential terrorist attack. As per the Army, the IED was spotted during a routine security sweep by patrolling personnel. As a precaution, traffic on the nearby road was immediately halted to ensure civilian safety. "Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was deployed to the site and carried out a controlled explosion to neutralize the device. No injury or damage was reported. "The operation, conducted jointly by the police and security forces, concluded after the area was thoroughly sanitized, and normal vehicular movement was restored," he said. The spokesman said that the Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the individuals responsible for the attempt. The timely detection by security personnel prevented loss of life and property, he said.
