Thamarassery incident: Dr Vipin undergoes plastic surgery, condition stable

Kozhikode: Dr Vipin PT (34), who was attacked at Thamarassery Taluk Hospital, is showing steady signs of recovery at Baby Memorial Hospital in Kozhikode. He was shifted from the intensive care unit to a room, hospital authorities said. Dr Vipin underwent plastic surgery to treat deep wounds sustained in the skull during the assault on Wednesday. Dr Krishna Kumar, Chief of the Plastic Surgery Department, performed the procedure. His condition is currently stable. Dr Vipin was attacked while on duty by Sunup, the father of a nine-year-old girl who died of amoebic meningoencephalitis on August 14. The girl, who was admitted with fever at the Thamarassery Taluk Hospital in the morning, was referred to Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital the same evening, where she was declared dead. The family later filed a medical negligence complaint against the hospital.
