Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and Alandi Municipal Council on Saturday signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban (SBM-U) 2.0. The partnership comes under the ministry of housing and urban affairs' 'Swachh Shehar Jodi' initiative which connects mentor cities with proven sanitation records to mentee cities for accelerated progress.Over 100 days, PCMC, recognised as one of India's Super Swachh Cities, will extend guidance to Alandi in eight priority areas, including visible cleanliness, waste collection and segregation, solid waste processing, sanitation facilities, and citizen participation. PCMC will share expertise and training and Alandi will implement action plans.The collaboration is expected to improve cleanliness standards and strengthen Alandi's Swachh Survekshan rankings by 2026. Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh said the initiative was "a crucial step in building cleaner, healthier, and more accountable cities."
