Thane: Thane city will be home to India's first multimodal integrated transport station when the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project becomes operational. The facility is expected to attract crores in investment and generate significant employment.An international conference on Friday brought together representatives from the Centre, Maharashtra govt, Gujarat, Japan, and local bodies to chart the development blueprint for the transportation hub that could transform the city, said a TMC official.The Thane station will integrate bullet train services with conventional railways, metro, inner metro, buses, waterways (jetties), cab and auto-rickshaw stands, and connecting roads to the airport, making it a comprehensive transport junction.The Thane municipal commissioner revealed that over 25% of the station area will be maintained as green zones, with citizens getting all public transport facilities at one interconnected location. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor includes 12 stations, with four in Maharashtra - Mumbai, Thane, Virar, and Boisar.Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) representatives shared insights on how bullet train stations transformed urban landscapes in Japan.
