Kozhikode: Kerala is expected to receive heavy rains in few places till the end of September. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is expecting rain and thunder-showers in Kerala until October 1. "Central Kerala, especially the hilly districts of Idukki and Pathanamthitta will receive the maximum downpour in the next 4 to 5 days. People living in the landslide prone regions have been advised not to go for travelling and off-road jeep treks in these areas as landslips are prone to occur in these regions", said a senior official in the IMD. Orange alerts have been issued for Pathanamthitta and Idukki, forecasting very heavy rainfall between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm. A yellow alert has been declared for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad with expected rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm. Meanwhile a holiday has been declared for all schools and colleges today after heavy rain caused inconvenience for the public with water logging reported in many parts of the district and the city.
