Hyderabad: The Telangana Aarogyasri Network Hospitals Associations (TANHA) on Monday announced that small and medium hospitals under them will halt services from Wednesday over unpaid dues and irregular payments, despite repeated assurances from state govt.TANHA, which represents over 360 private hospitals in the state, provides medical services under the state's Aarogyasri health scheme for people below poverty line (BPL). According to the association, outstanding dues range between 1,300 crore and 1,400 crore, adding that it is severely affecting the financial stability of member hospitals. Dr V Rakesh, TANHA president, said the association members held multiple rounds of meetings with health minister Damodar Rajanarasimha and dept officials over the past 20 years. While the minister made assurances that the issue would be taken up sincerely, the payment woes persist. "In view of the persistence of the same problems, and the inability of the Arogyasri health care trust (AHCT) and the health minister's office to honour its promises, we are again forced to indefinitely withhold our services across all private network hospitals," Dr Rakesh said. In Jan, TANHA boycotted services and staged a 10-day strike, which was called off after discussions with the health minister. In a recent representation to the health department, it highlighted that many employees are unable to manage financial hardships due to irregular salary payments.
