NEW DELHI, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a red alert for very heavy to extremely heavy rains in India's financial hub Mumbai, said media reports. An online report by the Indian Express said heavy showers battered Mumbai for the second consecutive day on Monday, with the Colaba coastal observatory recording over 100 millimeters of rainfall between Sunday and Monday morning, triggering intense waterlogging and traffic snarls. Movement of trains was partially affected in Mumbai due to waterlogging on the rails. ■
Itanagar, Jun 7 (PTI) The flood situation in Arunachal Pradesh improved on Saturday with water levels of most rivers receding, even as 33,000 people in 24 districts remained affected, officials said. Twelve people lost their lives and one person went missing in rain-related incidents, including landslides, after the monsoon set in, they said. Dimapur, Jul 18 (PTI) Two persons have died of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in Nagaland, a health department official said on Friday. Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur, Dr Yartenla Jamir, said that of the seven JE cases detected in Dimapur, Chumoukedima, and Niuland districts, two persons have died so far. She expressed concern over the rise in Japanese encephalitis (JE) cases in the three districts, especially during the monsoon season, which increases the risk of transmission.
