Kashi was first political school for Nepal's PM Sushila Karki

Varanasi, Sept 13 (UNI) Newly appointed Prime Minister of Nepal Sushila Karki completed her postgraduate studies in political science from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in 1975. The neighbouring country is now moving towards peace. President Ramchandra Paudel administered the oath of office to Sushila Karki as the Prime Minister of the interim government last night. Karki met Durga Prasad Subedi, prominent youth leader, while studying at BHU. According to former student union president Anil Srivastava, the newly appointed PM of Nepal often used to study for hours in the library. Former BHU professor Deepak Malik said that during the anti-monarchy movement in Nepal, Durga Prasad Subedi emerged as a prominent leader of the youth. "This movement was led by BP Koirala. Sushila Karki was also very influenced by this movement. At that time, Banaras used to be the stronghold of Nepali Congress leaders," he said. According to Prof Malik, Kashi can be called the first political school of Sushila Karki. "While studying here, she participated in many movements," he added. Prof Malik said that when he went to Kathmandu in November 2024, Sushila Karki invited him to her house for dinner. She likes Banaras very much and often refreshes the memories of her studies at BHU.
