Pall of gloom descends on families of crash victims | Lucknow News - The Times of India

Lucknow: A pall of gloom descended on the families of people who lost their lives in a bus accident in Kakori on Thursday.Sanjeet, employed with the company which was carrying out construction of a bridge at the spot of the accident, was the youngest in his family and was scheduled to be married during the upcoming Navratri. Hours before his death, Sanjeet got his mother's phone recharged so that she could speak with him. The news of his sudden death shattered the family, as celebrations quickly turned into grief. His father, Likhpal, was informed about the tragedy by Kakori police.Another victim, Nardev (28) of Mathura, was a supervisor in the same company. Despite suffering from fever and weakness for several days, he was working under pressure. On Thursday morning, he spoke to his wife and three-year-old son on a video call before visiting a local doctor for treatment. Only minutes before the accident, he had transferred money online to a friend. His father, Chandulal, fainted due to shock after hearing the news.Among the deceased was Dilshan (25), a daily-wager from Bhudariya village in Kakori. After completing his work for the day, he was sitting by the roadside when the speeding bus hit him, dragging him into the ditch. He was the youngest among four brothers and two sisters. His parents, Mukhtar and Sajida, were inconsolable.The other two victims were Babulal (26) and Jagdish (44), both from Pilibhit's Rooppur Kamlua village. They had come to Kakori barely a month ago to work on the project. Jagdish, who lost both parents earlier, was living with his brother Mahendra Pal. The two were crushed to death when the bus overturned near their work site.On Friday, bodies were handed over to the families after postmortem examination.
