KOLKATA: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said India would not have got Independence if Bengal was not there, as personalities such as Rabindranath Tagore and Subhas Chandra Bose, who contributed significantly to shaping the nation's destiny, were born here.
