NEW DELHI: A 36-year-old accountant was arrested from Maurya Enclave for allegedly impersonating a Delhi Police sub-inspector (SI) to gain respect and monetary benefits,a police official said on Wednesday. During patrol in Pitampura, officers spotted a suspicious man in a car who avoided revealing his identity. Claiming to be posted at Cyber Police Station, Dwarka, he was taken to the station for verification. He failed to produce an identity card and gave misleading details about his PIS number. "A search of his vehicle yielded four fake Delhi Police ID cards with his photograph under the name 'Lakhpat Singh', an SI uniform, name plate, three phones, a toy pistol with holster, badges, police stickers, jackets, court summons, eight bank cards, and other accessories," said DCP (Northwest) Bhisham Singh. The accused, admitted he had been posing as an SI for two years.
