Border security beefed up in Meghalaya | Guwahati News - Times of India

Shillong: Meghalaya Police and other security forces have been carrying out joint checking operations to maintain law and order ahead of Independence Day, reports Manosh Das.All district police forces are maintaining a tight vigil, a a senior police officer said. The BSF, too, has launched 'Operation Alert', along the India-Bangladesh border, to ensure foolproof security. It is being carried out in close coordination with state police and other law enforcement agencies. "The operation involves intensified area domination, round-the-clock patrolling, surprise naka checks and riverine patrols to plug gaps along the border areas," a BSF statement read.Meanwhile, the state govt has lined up several events to celebrate the 79the Independence Day.
