Six techies held for abusing drugs at Medipally farmhouse | Hyderabad News - Times of India

Hyderabad: Six information technology (IT) professionals were arrested by prohibition & excise sleuths for allegedly being in possession of drugs at a birthday party at a farmhouse in Medipally village in Shankarpally on Saturday night. They also seized 0.05 grams LSD blots, hashish oil, a scotch bottle and three cars -- BMW, Jeep and Datsun Go -- from their possession.The arrested accused were identified as Abhijith Banerjee, Simpson, Parthu, Goyal, Yashwanth Reddy and Sevio Dennis.Excise officials said the six friends, who at various points of time worked for a prominent MNC in the city, reached the farmhouse on Saturday . "We already had a tip-off that a few persons were planning to gather and abuse drugs at the farmhouse. Around 2am on Sunday, the searches were done and the drugs were seized and the accused were put to test. All the five tested positive for drugs" the officials said.After questioning the accused, the investigators came to know that Abhijith had bought the drugs from Himachal Pradesh. He gave hashish oil to two other accused in the past. "Recently, two accused got promotion. Apart from that, Abhijith recently celebrated his birthday. They wanted to meet and celebrate. The accused gathered at the farmhouse and abused drugs,'' the investigators said.All the accused, aged around 30 years, reside in various parts of the city. Since the seized quantity of the drug was more than 0.02 grams, the accused were arrested for violation of the Narcotics Drugs & Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
