VIDEO: Sabarmati Jan Sadharan Express Derails Near Kanpur, No Injuries Reported

Kanpur: Two coaches of the 15269 Sabarmati Jan Sadharan Express derailed near Bhauti station on the outskirts of Kanpur on Friday afternoon, sparking panic among passengers and halting rail movement on the route temporarily. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties have been reported. The train, which was travelling from Muzaffarpur Junction to Ahmedabad's Sabarmati BG Junction, experienced the derailment shortly after departing from Kanpur Central at 3:07 PM. The incident occurred at approximately 4:12 PM near the outer signal of Bhauti station. Officials confirmed that the sixth and seventh general coaches from the engine came off the tracks. According to initial information, the train was moving at a relatively slow speed at the time of the incident, which likely prevented a major accident. Passengers, sensing danger, evacuated the train on their own. Locals rushed to the site after hearing the loud noise of derailing wheels, while the railway's accident relief and medical teams were dispatched immediately. The derailment comes amid continued scrutiny over railway infrastructure and safety standards, raising questions about track conditions and inspection frequency on busy routes such as the Delhi-Howrah corridor. Senior officials from the Divisional Railway Manager's office arrived promptly, and an internal investigation has been initiated. An accident relief train was also mobilized to clear the affected section and restore normalcy. The train was already delayed, running several hours behind its scheduled departure time of 12:50 PM. The exact cause of the derailment is yet to be determined, but railway sources indicate that technical assessment of the track and rolling stock is ongoing. While no one was hurt in this incident, the episode serves as yet another reminder of the need for systemic upgrades and timely maintenance to ensure passenger safety on one of the country's busiest rail network
