Diva stn murder: Cops use tattoo as key clue to identify woman | Mumbai News - Times of India

Thane: The Thane railway police are working towards identifying the woman who was allegedly thrown under a moving goods train at Diva station early Friday. They are using two alphabets found tattooed on her right hand as a key lead, the railway police said, reports Manoj Badgeri.CCTV footage shows the accused, Rajan Singh (39), approaching the woman around 5am on platform 5-6. After a brief exchange, Singh allegedly made unwanted advances, which the woman resisted. As she walked away, the argument escalated. Singh then reportedly dragged her to the platform edge and threw her under a train heading toward Kalyan, police said based on investigations and CCTV coverage.Senior inspector Archana Dusane at the Thane railway police said the victim appears to be middle-aged. "Tracking the identity of the woman and speaking to her family and friends could lead us to vital clues and the trigger in the case. We found alphabets R and D tattooed on her hand. We're now checking missing person reports and speaking to witnesses, including the conservancy staffers and reviewing footage from surrounding area to gather more details about the accused and the victim."Railway activists and daily commuters have renewed their demand for improved surveillance and stricter access control at suburban stations entry points.
