Gurgaon: Panic gripped HSV Global School in Sector 46 after it received a bomb threat via email around 12.30am on Thursday. After nearly two hours of combing the premises, no explosives or suspicious items were found. Police later said it was a "hoax". The anonymous message claimed explosives had been planted in different classrooms, hidden inside polythene bags. According to the sources, the person who sent the email wrote that he would be happy to see the destruction and hue and cry. The sender also said he would also end his own life after the destruction. While Friday's classes were cancelled, the school has informed parents normal operations will resume from Monday. According to the school principal, children had arrived at the campus on Friday morning, unaware of the late-night threat. "As soon as we saw the email, we informed the police. Some students had already come to school, but we immediately sent them back home as a safety precaution," the principal said.Following the alert, teams from Sector 50 police station, the bomb disposal squad, dog squad and senior police officials reached the school and carried out an extensive search operation. The entire school building was evacuated and secured during the search. Similar threatening emails were also sent to several other schools across Delhi-NCR, raising concerns of a coordinated hoax. While police initiated a detailed probe, they were yet to register the case awaiting formal complaint from the school till filing of the report. A cyber investigation is now underway to trace the origin of the email and identify those responsible for it. ASI Sandeep said, "Nothing suspicious was found at the spot. Police are on alert and will ensure the public safety." Authorities have urged the public to stay calm, assuring that security has been increased in schools and all necessary safety measures are being followed diligently.
