Contractual worker dies in freak mishap | Bhubaneswar News - Times of India

Koraput: A contractual labourer lost his life and two others were injured after the umbrella of a stationary push trolley got entangled with a moving goods train wagon at the Rayagada railway yard on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Debasri Kisan (20). The injured, Susant Das (22) and Babula Saha (26), were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and are stable, according to police sources.A railway release stated that the trolley was positioned between line no. 4 and 5 and was not on any active track. However, when a goods train passed through the yard, the umbrella attached to the trolley came into contact with a wagon, causing it to swing violently and strike the nearby labourers.Senior railway officials promptly visited the site to assess the situation. A preliminary enquiry has been launched to determine the exact cause of the mishap and identify any operational lapses.
