15 dead in different accidents in India

NEW DELHI, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Fifteen people died and several others were injured in two separate road accidents in northern India on Tuesday, confirmed official sources. In the first accident reported from the northern hilly state of Uttarakhand, eight persons, including four women and three children, died and five were injured when the vehicle carrying them fell into a river. The mishap occurred in the state's Pithoragarh district. All the victims belonged to the same village. The injured were admitted to a local hospital. The other road mishap took place in the Doda district of Indian-controlled Jammu and Kashmir area, in which seven persons died and 17 were injured. The vehicle carrying the victims veered off a hilly road and fell into a deep gorge. ■
