Earlier in the day, seven arterial roads linking Assam and Arunachal Pradesh were blocked during the protest, which was called off after assurances of action from both state govts. Arunachal Pradesh inspector general of police (law and orderr) Chukhu Apa said legal proceedings have begun in both cases and urged the public to maintain peace and avoid taking the law into their own hands. The accused has been booked under Section 103(1) of the BNS and Section 27(1) of the Arms Act and is currently in custody. "These are isolated criminal acts, not targeted attacks against any community," the IGP clarified, adding that all district superintendents of police have been instructed to ensure the safety of migrant workers. Compensation will be provided to the victims' families through the state's victim compensation scheme, and both cases are being fast-tracked, Apa said.TMPK has said it will continue to monitor the developments and reaffirmed its commitment to seeking justice for the victims, while appealing to the public to maintain peace.
