Jakarta/Hyderabad, July 14 (Maxim News): A powerful earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale struck Indonesia's Tanimbar Islands early Monday morning, sparking panic among residents and prompting a swift response from authorities. Shaken by the sudden tremors, residents rushed out of their homes, fearing aftershocks. Local authorities immediately launched relief and response measures in the affected areas. While structural damage has been reported, no casualties have been confirmed so far. Preliminary reports indicate that at least 15 houses and two school buildings were damaged, although officials are still assessing the full extent of property loss. Emergency teams have been deployed to survey damage and assist affected families. The Tanimbar Islands, a cluster of around 30 islands in Indonesia's Maluku province, lie in the seismically active "Ring of Fire", making them highly prone to earthquakes.
