CHENNAI: A massive fire that broke out on a diesel-laden goods train near Tiruvallur on Sunday has been 85% contained, according to the fire and rescue department. The blaze followed a derailment that led to at least 13 wagons being gutted. Officials stated that the intense blaze, which erupted from one of the wagons, has so far affected an area of nearly 200 metres, damaging both overhead power lines and rail infrastructure in the vicinity, said a Thanthi TV report. Rescue teams are continuing efforts to cool down the remaining tanker compartments and prevent further spread. High-voltage power lines and electric equipment in the area have also been cut off to ensure safety during the operation. Firefighters and railway personnel remain on site, working to bring the situation completely under control. Jaipur: Two people were killed and six injured when a bus carrying 65 passengers, mostly labourers from Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, caught fire after coming into contact with an 11 kV overhead power line in Todi village, Manoharpur, roughly 55 km from Jaipur Tuesday morning.Additional SP Tejpal Singh said the deceased were in the process of deboarding the bus near a brick kiln, when it came into contact with the power line. Patna, Jul 19 (PTI) The Bihar government on Saturday said that more than 12,000 new polling stations have been created in the state as per the recommendation of the Election Commission, as part of special intensive revision (SIR). According to a release issued by the election department, the total number of polling stations has risen to 90,712 from 77,895, after the establishment of 12,817 new ones.
