Additionally, Kozhikode hosts the regional deputy director for the audit division. Initially under the Finance Department, the Kerala Lottery Department now functions under the Taxes Department. The program not only offers a chance at life-changing winnings but also contributes significantly to social welfare initiatives through the GST collected on lottery ticket sales. One notable initiative is the Karunya Benevolent Fund Scheme, which provides financial aid for medical treatment to economically disadvantaged citizens suffering from serious illnesses such as cancer, kidney failure, hemophilia, heart disease, and those in need of palliative care. So far, over 27,000 individuals have benefited from the scheme. Each month, hundreds of families escape financial distress, thanks to the support offered by the lottery-linked welfare programs. Kerala State Lotteries conducts seven weekly draws, one monthly draw, and six bumper lotteries annually. The weekly draws take place every day at 3:00 PM at Gorky Bhavan, located near Bakery Junction in Thiruvananthapuram.
