Hyderabad: Unidentified individuals sent emails to the chief judge of the city civil courts complex in Hyderabad, the Gymkhana Club, and Raj Bhavan, alleging that improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were planted on the premises on Tuesday. Anti-sabotage checks were conducted at the three locations, and the threat was declared a hoax.At 3:43 am, a person named Abdia Abdulla emailed the chief judge of the civil courts complex and the Hyderabad Gymkhana Club, claiming that four RDX-based IEDs had been placed at both sites. The message instructed judges and staff to evacuate the buildings.The sender, identifying himself as a student or alumnus of Anna University, stated that the bomb threat aimed to expose alleged illegal activities of certain top political leaders in Tamil Nadu.After receiving the email, court staff alerted authorities around 11:30 am. Mirchowk police, accompanied by two bomb disposal teams, arrived at the complex and conducted a full sweep of the buildings following the evacuation."We have conducted a thorough search of the entire court complex. No suspicious objects or explosive substances were found," said Mirchowk inspector Rachakonda Ravinder. According to police, inspections concluded at approximately 2:30 pm, with court proceedings being suspended for the day.Jubilee Hills police, along with the bomb disposal squad, inspected the Gymkhana Club on Road Number 2 of Banjara Hills around noon. "No explosive substances were found. It was a hoax threat. We concluded the checks at 1:30 pm," stated Jubilee Hills inspector K Venkateshwar Reddy.Staff at Telangana Raj Bhavan also received the email. A search by Punjagutta police, supported by the bomb disposal squad, determined that the threat was a hoax."The civil court staff said that they would lodge a complaint with the cybercrime police since checks were conducted at three different places in the city based on the threat from the same accused," a police official said. No case has been registered yet.
