By BD Narayankar Bengaluru July 7 (UNI) The parallel visits of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to New Delhi, coming on the heels of mounting discontent among Congress legislators, may have been labelled as "official," but politically, they are anything but routine. At a time when party in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala is conducting intense one-on-one interactions with disgruntled MLAs, these Delhi trips seem carefully timed -- not just to meet Union ministers, but to send a message to the Congress high command, and perhaps, to each other. While Siddaramaiah is visiting Delhi on July 9, Shivakumar will be visiting the national capital tomorrow. Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar have worked hard to project unity. The optics in Mysuru -- with both leaders standing together -- were no accident. Siddaramaiah said, "No rift with DKS, the government will stand firm for five years like a rock,"* and then reaffirmed, *"Yes, I will be \\\\\\\\[CM for five years]. Why do you have the doubt?" Shivakumar, too, was direct: "I have not asked anyone to take my name, to make me CM. There is no need for any discord."
