Lucknow: The post-mortem report of the elderly couple killed by their son-in-law in the Alambagh area has revealed the brutality of the attack. The report, released on Friday, showed 18 stab wounds on 65-year-old Anant Ram, including six on his chest, and 15 wounds on his wife Asha, six of which were also on chest. Their son-in-law, Jagdeep, allegedly committed the murders following a bitter marital dispute and was arrested by the police on Thursday. His wife, Poonam Devi, estranged from the accused for nearly two years, said she watched helplessly as her husband slit the throats of her father, Anant Ram (73) -- a retired railway employee -- and her mother, Asha Devi (71). The killings took place after Jagdeep arrived at his in-laws' home under the pretext of meeting his child. As tensions flared over a long-standing conflict, Jagdeep reportedly pulled out a knife and began attacking the elderly couple. According to eyewitnesses, including tenant Ramkishan, Jagdeep appeared uncontrollable and was chasing anyone who came near him with the weapon. However, locals eventually overpowered him near the railway tracks and handed him over to the police. The victims' daughter-in-law, Monika, who witnessed the attack, said Jagdeep was furious about not being allowed to meet his son and suspected her in-laws of poisoning his wife's mind against him. "He first attacked my sister-in-law, and when my in-laws tried to stop him, he pulled out a knife and started stabbing them relentlessly," she recounted. According to Monika's father, Motilal, Jagdeep had planned the attack meticulously. "He knew where to strike -- he aimed for the ribs and chest, intending to kill. If my daughter had been there, she might have been dead too."The victims' younger son, Rohan, who came from Jammu, said he learned about the murders from a newspaper . "I felt dizzy after reading that my parents were murdered. I was told that my father was sick," he said.
