Pune Rape Case: A man who posed as a courier boy and allegedly raped a 22-year-old techie at her home in a posh residential society in Pune has been arrested in the city's Karve Nagar area, authorities said on Friday. The incident took place on Wednesday at nearly 7:30 pm. The accused reportedly entered the woman's society as a courier delivery boy. Despite the woman saying that she had no courier in her name, he insisted, saying, "A signature is required", as per sources. The woman, who works in a private firm, was alone at the time of the incident. As the woman opened the door, he went inside her home to get the PIN for the courier, closed the door, and allegedly raped her. Several reports claimed the accused sprayed something on her face before raping her. The accused allegedly clicked a selfie using the woman's phone in which her back and a part of his face are seen, and left a message warning that he had taken her pictures and would release them on social media if she reported the incident, police said. "I will come again," the message read, according to police. Police detained two individuals on Thursday in connection with the incident and said the identification of the accused will take place after the victim completes her medical examination. The process will be based on the victim's statement. The face of the accused was captured in one of the CCTV cameras. A probe is underway if the accused was really from a courier firm, or whether he knew the woman. The police is also scanning the footage of CCTV cameras on the premises and the gate management app used by the housing society. Pune police commissioner Amitesh Kumar, who visited the crime spot on Thursday, said about a dozen teams have been formed to investigate the case. "Our teams are working on different leads and we are sure we will soon detect the case by nabbing the accused," he added.
