Delhi/Hyderabad, July 3 (Maxim News): External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has come down heavily on Western countries for their lack of consistent response to terrorism, calling for a unified global stance to counter the growing threat. Addressing the issue at a diplomatic forum, Jaishankar pointed out the double standards of some Western nations, stating that they often remain silent on terrorist incidents unless directly impacted. "It is time for the world to unite against terrorism. The attitude of some countries -- behaving as if terrorism isn't their problem unless it affects them -- is not just unfair, it's dangerous," he said. Highlighting India's proactive approach, Jaishankar emphasized that India has always stood in solidarity with countries facing terror threats. "India responds immediately to terrorist attacks anywhere in the world. That's our consistent policy. We don't stay silent when others suffer, and we expect the same in return," he added. He said that India's foreign policy is rooted in moral clarity and responsibility, especially when it comes to issues of global concern like terrorism. The Minister acknowledged the challenge of building global consensus in the fight against terrorism and pointed out that countries are not supporting each other enough. "Part of diplomacy is encouraging, persuading, and inspiring others to act. That's why dialogue and cooperation are critical," he said. Jaishankar emphasized that while diplomacy is complex, the fight against terrorism should transcend political divides, urging global powers to rise above their narrow interests.
