New Delhi: A 40-year-old man allegedly stabbed his 10-year-old son to death in south west Delhi's Sagarpur on Sunday after the child insisted on going out to play in the rain. The father, a daily wage labourer, lived with his four children in a one-room house after the death of his wife a few years ago; police said. The child's other siblings was present and witnessed their father stabbing their brother.According to police, they got a PCR call around 1.30pm from a hospital informing them that a child had been brought in with stab injuries allegedly inflicted by his father. "Police officers rushed to the hospital and found out that the boy had been brought to the hospital in that state by his father and was declared dead," a senior officer said. A case under section 103 (murder) of BNS was registered and the father was arrested. Police officers found out that the man lived with his children in Mohan Block of Sagarpur. His wife had passed away a few years ago, and the child who was allegedly stabbed was the third of the four children, police said. Police said that the child was allegedly stabbed to death after he requested to go play outside. "The incident occurred when the child was at their rented home and insisted on going outside to play in the rain. His father objected to the idea, but the boy did not comply," a senior police officer said. "In a fit of rage, the father allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed the child in the chest in the left rib area. Thereafter, he immediately rushed the injured child to the hospital, but the victim could not survive," the officer added. The weapon used in the attack, a kitchen knife, has been recovered from the scene. A senior police officer said that the other children are being spoken to as part of the inquiry as the siblings was allegedly present inside the house at the time and witnessed the stabbing, police said.
