NEW DELHI: Trinamool Congress on Sunday issued a show cause to party MLA Madan Mitra for making controversial remarks over the alleged gangrape of a law student in her college in Kolkata.In a circular issued by the party's Bengal president Subrata Bakshi, Mitra has been show caused for violating party rules and a reply has been sought within three days."Your unsolicited, unnecessary, and insensitive comments on June 28 have severely damaged the image of our party. At the same time, your remarks stand in direct contradiction to the firm stance taken by the party," the letter read."For this act of violating party discipline, you are hereby directed to show cause within the next three days," it added.This comes a day after Mitra had said that the incident would not have happened had the student not gone to the college alone and that she should have taken some friends with her or informed people before going there."This incident has sent a message to girls that if someone calls you when the college is closed, don't go, nothing good will come of it.
