New Delhi: Delhi govt on Thursday said no sexual assault was found to have been made on a woman who died during treatment at east Delhi's Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital on Wednesday.A police complaint was filed at Usmanpur police station on June 23, stating that the 23-year-old woman was sexually assaulted at Jag Parvesh Chandra (JPC) Hospital by another patient.Delhi govt, in a press statement, said that as per reports from the medical superintendent of JPC Hospital, "no physical or sexual assault was found" on the woman. It added that a post-mortem would be conducted at GTB Hospital after completing necessary legal procedures by Delhi Police."As per details received from GTB Hospital, the body of the deceased is presently preserved in the mortuary, and the close relatives/acquaintances are being traced," the statement read.According to govt, the woman was found lying in an unconscious state in Sonia Vihar on June 21 and was brought to JPCH by Delhi Police and given treatment."On June 22, the patient was moved from the casualty ward to the high dependency unit (HDU). The patient reportedly went missing from the HDU in the early hours of the morning of June 23 and was later found on the hospital premises in the afternoon," the govt said in its statement, adding that after treatment, the patient was referred from JPCH to GTB on the evening of June 23 with a diagnosis of suspected poisoning, and she passed away during treatment on the night of June 24.Govt claimed that the closed-circuit television cameras installed outside the HDU of JPCH were functional and the necessary footage had already been collected and handed over to Delhi Police for further investigation. A committee of senior doctors and officers was constituted on June 23 at JPCH to inquire into the case."On the basis of the committee findings and CCTV footage, the details of the on-duty nursing officer, sanitation staff and security guard were shared with the investigation officer of Delhi Police on June 25, and further investigation is being carried out," govt stated.AAP, however, alleged that the woman was "raped" and BJP govt was trying to "suppress" the case. "Till now, Delhi govt has not announced any compensation nor has the chief minister convened any meeting regarding hospital security," AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged.Delhi Congress president Devendra Yadav said that the incident exposed weak security arrangements at state-run hospitals.
