New Delhi: COVID-19 cases in India are nearing the 6,000 mark as 794 new cases and four deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, with two of the fatalities occurring in Kerala. The Union Home Ministry has urged close monitoring of the situation. The country currently has 5,755 active cases, with daily increases of more than 500 cases. Kerala remains a significant contributor, reporting 1,806 active cases today, an increase of 127 cases since yesterday. Among the four COVID-19 deaths nationwide, one was reported in Kerala involving a 59-year-old man. Apart from Kerala, states with over 500 active cases include West Bengal, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Delhi. Since January, the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the country has risen to 59. Despite the uptick in cases, the Union Health Ministry has reassured that there is no cause for alarm.
