NEW DELHI: In a significant move to enhance coordination and communication ahead of the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025, the Ministry of Ayush, in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, conducted a high-level virtual workshop on Thursday. The workshop saw participation from more than 400 officials representing a wide range of central ministries, departments, and institutions. The session focused on responding to the surging public demand for timely, credible updates about the upcoming Yoga Day celebrations, which this year commemorate a decade since yoga's global recognition by the United Nations in 2014. The workshop was chaired by Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, and featured key contributions from Shri C. Senthil Rajan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, and Ms. Monalisa Dash, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Ayush. Together, they outlined a cross-ministerial strategy for unified media messaging and citizen engagement, in alignment with the 2025 IDY theme -- "Yoga for One Earth, One Health." Vaidya Kotecha, in his keynote remarks, underscored the growing relevance of yoga as a tool for collective well-being and India's leadership in global health promotion. "The International Day of Yoga is no longer just a date on the calendar -- it is a decade-strong national movement for wellbeing, unity, and harmony," he said. "IDY 2025 is our opportunity to connect every citizen, in every corner of the country, to this shared celebration of wellness." He further stressed that yoga has evolved into a powerful medium for public health outreach and cultural diplomacy, placing India at the forefront of preventive healthcare and holistic living. Joint Secretary Senthil Rajan emphasized the power of integrated media efforts, noting that creative storytelling, citizen-generated content, and multi-platform communication would be crucial in reaching diverse audiences. Ms. Dash reinforced the importance of innovation and synchronisation across ministries to ensure the IDY message is widely heard and understood. The workshop also reviewed progress on ongoing inter-ministerial preparations and highlighted the need for last-mile connectivity. Special attention was given to ensuring that yoga outreach activities penetrate tribal, rural, and underserved areas through both digital and on-ground channels. With just weeks left until June 21, the groundwork is being laid for a deeply inclusive and celebratory observance of the International Day of Yoga -- an event that continues to unite millions across the globe in the pursuit of peace, health, and harmony.
