Singer and son of legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam's son SP Charan is against the idea of recreating his father's voice using artificial intelligence. In an interaction with a Tamil media channel, Charan stated that a singer chooses the song they want to sing and using AI robs them of the right to refuse a song. To provide an example, he stated that his dad might not have wanted to sing Manasilayo (Vettaiyan), for which composer had used the AI-generated voice of the late Malaysia Vasudevan, after getting permission from the singer's son, Yugendran. "No hard feelings to anybody; it might be a great song, but if SPB had been alive and had got the opportunity to sing Manasilayo, he might have said he does not want to sing it," said Charan.
