Bengaluru: Members of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Thursday demanded accountability from the association's management in the aftermath of the stampede outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium here that resulted in 11 deaths on Wednesday.Some members, miffed at the KSCA's over-zealousness in felicitating the RCB team upon their IPL win, raised questions about the management's lack of enthusiasm in greeting Karnataka state teams when they won BCCI tournaments in the past, barely acknowledging their achievements.A case in point is the state senior team that had won the Vijay Hazare Trophy earlier this year. Their promised felicitation is yet to happen."Our state cricketers would have been very happy had the KSCA shown even half the enthusiasm in celebrating their achievements over the past two years," a KSCA life-member said."An over-enthusiastic KSCA sent out a congratulatory message at 9 am, asking us to stay tuned for details. At 2.30 pm we got a letter, detailing the entry gates and how RCB had allowed exclusive entry for KSCA members," the member further said.Some even got calls from KSCA officials, asking them to collect passes for premier stands."How can you invite anyone for an event that is scheduled to start in barely three hours. It was ridiculous," fumed another member.Those who managed to enter the stadium were in for a shock."We were told to enter from Gate 10, earmarked for members. I went around 4 pm and saw there was utter chaos. People were jostling to catch a glimpse of the players. Yet, the gates, even the ones meant for members' entry, were kept closed. In hindsight, I'm glad I didn't enter the stadium," said another member, who was accompanied by his 10-year-old son.Some women members of KSCA complained being manhandled and groped by some in the crowd, who were drunk.Some members also blamed the poor infrastructure at the stadium, managed by KSCA, for injuries."For the past few years, we've only seen cosmetic changes to the infrastructure. A lot of repairs and renovations are long overdue. During the mayhem, many gates, railings and walls were left severely damaged, resulting in injuries."
