"The state government has already given the land for building the airport," the minister said, signalling that procedural bottlenecks have largely been resolved. Mamnoor is expected to become Telangana's second operational airport after Hyderabad, significantly improving connectivity for the northern districts and boosting tourism, trade and logistics in the region. Adilabad Airport: Defence-Civil Model Gains Momentum Among the new proposals, Adilabad has emerged as a priority project, with the Centre planning a joint defence-civil aviation airport. "Recognising the strategic importance of the site, the Ministry of Defence has decided to have a training facility for defence... for civil operations, they will provide an enclave," Naidu said. The defence establishment already has around 360 acres of land, while the state has been asked to acquire an additional 450 acres. The proposed airport will have a runway capable of handling Airbus A320 aircraft. Officials from the Defence Ministry, Airports Authority of India and the state government are scheduled to conduct a field inspection and Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS) study on April 17, a key step before preparing the master plan. If the state government proposes an alternate site, a pre-feasibility study will be carried out," the minister said, leaving the door open for reconsideration.
