Chennai, Apr 8 (PTI) AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami on Wednesday flayed the Stalin-led government, labelling it as a "failure model" that could not deliver on its promises on filling up government posts, giving jobs to youth, or even preventing massive inundation in Chennai during monsoons. Terming the DMK as "evil", he asked people to oust their government from Tamil Nadu. He said that during the last five years of the DMK rule, people suffered hardship in many ways, including deterioration of law and order, no safety for women, girls and people. "People are living in fear under the present DMK regime. During the AIADMK regime, the rule of law was upheld and people lived without fear in a safe atmosphere. The AIADMK government took stern and prompt action on the wrongdoers then," Palaniswami said, addressing a poll rally in Velacherry here. Both the people and small traders have been severely affected in DMK rule. This situation will be altered when AIADMK comes to power. In 2021, Stain promised to fill up 5.5 lakh vacancies, including 3.5 government posts if the DMK came to power. But in five years, the number of those who retired from service was one lakh but appointment orders were issued to only 94,000 persons, Palaniswami said. "Stalin was unable to fill up the vacancies in government departments in five years of the DMK rule. Couldn't keep up his promise of jobs for youth. Should such a government continue," Palaniswami said, and added, "the DMK government is a failure model government." People should ponder over what the DMK has done from 2021 to 2026, especially on whether it has brought any relief for them. "No new projects were brought for Chennai and particularly Velacherry that experiences massive inundation during monsoons," the former chief minister said. Criticising Chief Minister M K Stalin for talking about delimitation exercise when Tamil Nadu is in the midst of Assembly election, he claimed that Stalin raised this issue as he had nothing to speak about TN. "The delimitation is a national exercise. Already, a central minister has clarified that the state will not be affected. Why are you harping on this? It appears you don't have anything else to talk. Speak about the Assembly elections. What's the use of talking about delimitation when there's no Lok Sabha election," Palaniswami asked. Taking pot shots at Stalin's claim of implementing several schemes in the state, the AIADMK general secretary sought to know if he brought any projects for Thiagarayanagar constituency (in Chennai). "Or is he apparently referring to ganja sale," Palaniswami mocked. "Stalin, like a worn-out record, repeatedly calls me 'slave' Palaniswami. Unlike you, we will not pledge anything for the sake of being in power. It is DMK that mortgages. We will support initiatives for the betterment of the people and oppose projects detrimental to people and Tamil Nadu," Palaniswami said. He said Stalin had no qualification to talk about AIADMK as it did not prolong the seat-sharing talks with its allies for 20 days like the DMK had done.
