Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD)'s Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, has warned for very severe thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, hail, rain, and strong surface winds over Khordha and Puri districts. According to the nowcast warning issued at 3:44 PM, intense thunderstorm activity with surface winds gusting between 50-60 kmph is very likely to occur at a few places in these two coastal districts during the next three hours, valid until 6:44 PM today. The warning covers an area of approximately 6,305 square kilometres. Residents have been urged to remain alert as the system could bring sudden heavy downpours, hailstorms, lightning strikes, and damaging winds.
Khordha (Odisha): A severe cold wave gripped northern Odisha on Sunday, with the Mayurbhanj in the northern part of the State bearing the brunt of the intense chill with Ramatirtha area in the district recording as low as -10 degrees Celsius.
