New Delhi, Apr 8 (UNI) US President Donald Trump savaged news network CNN yet again for its reporting on US-Iran ceasefire, describing it (CNN reporting) as ''fake,' and said authorities are looking into whether or not CNN has committed a crime. CNN, which featured non-stop coverage of President Trump's 'backdown' after he called off his threat to 'obliterate' Iran on Tuesday night, quoted a statement by Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) on the two-week ceasefire. The statement claimed a 'humiliating defeat' for Trump, just hours after he had threatened that 'a whole civilization will die tonight.' 'The enemy, in its unfair, unlawful, and criminal war against the Iranian nation, has suffered an undeniable, historic, and crushing defeat,' the SNSC statement said. CNN aired the statement in the lead-up to Trump's post on his social media platform in which he announced the two-week ceasefire. 'Our fingers are on the trigger and if the enemy falters even a tiny bit, we will respond forcefully,' the statement by Iran's SNSC said. CNN also posted an article in its live blog covering the statement with the headline, 'Iran claims victory, says it forced US to accept 10-point plan.' The New York Times and PBS also quoted the SNSC statement. However, Trump said 'No one can believe that Fake News CNN put out a knowingly false and dangerous statement pretending it came from the upper levels of the Iranian Government. It didn't. It was totally made up and posted, as a headline, for purpose of, perhaps, inflaming a very delicate situation.' He said it was a new, trouble making site from Nigeria and 'CNN just got caught cheating - A very dangerous thing to do.''
