Navi Mumbai: The initiative, titled 'Navi Mumbai Plastic and E-Waste Recyclothon,' was inaugurated at the NMMC headquarters under the guidance of Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde. This campaign, launched in collaboration with Project Mumbai, aims to create a plastic-free city in alignment with the global World Environment Day theme, "Elimination of Plastic Pollution." As part of the campaign's first phase, over 200 plastic collection boxes will be placed at schools, markets, malls, hotels, and residential societies to gather plastic waste. The collected plastic will be recycled into useful items such as benches and pens, which will be used in public spaces to promote sustainability. Dr. Shinde emphasized the importance of reducing plastic consumption alongside tree planting to lower the city's carbon footprint.
