Haflong: With campaigning concluded for Assam's 126 Legislative Assembly seats, the spotlight falls on Dima Hasao's lone 113-Haflong constituency, where three candidates, Nandita Gorlosa (INC), Rupali Langthasa (BJP), and Daniel Langthasa (NPP), are vying for victory. On April 9, 158,204 voters will decide their fate. BJP's Rupali Langthasa held large rallies across the district in the past weeks, while Congress's Nandita Gorlosa conducted door-to-door campaigns in villages and organized a major rally in Haflong on the final day, which drew thousands of supporters. Meanwhile, NPP's Daniel Langthasa opted for 'pocket meetings' to connect with voters. A total of 261 polling stations have been set up across Dima Hasao district. To oversee and coordinate arrangements, 13 Zonal Officers and 68 Sector Officers have been deployed. A total of 1,252 polling officials are engaged to ensure free, fair, and transparent voting across all polling stations. Election cells have been established and are operating round the clock to monitor logistics, security, and voter facilitation. For smooth conduct of the election, 14 companies of CAPF have been deployed across the district. Extra security personnel will also be stationed at 67 vulnerable polling stations mapped across the district. She added that 23 teams of polling officials for far-flung areas have departed for their respective polling stations. To ensure smooth movement of polling officials and prevent accidents, two schools located in high-traffic areas will remain closed during the officials' movement on April 8. She also informed that there will be one model polling station and 15 all-women polling stations in Haflong. Hyalinge further said that 258 voters who are either over 85 years old or physically disabled have already cast their votes via postal ballots, facilitated through the 'Home Voting' scheme introduced by the Election Commission of India.
