Salem (Tamil Nadu), Apr 7 (PTI) The people of Tamil Nadu have decided that the ensuing Assembly election will be the last for the Karunanidhi family as they will vote out the family rule in the state, AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami said on Tuesday. Addressing a poll campaign in support of AIADMK candidate for Yercaud (ST) P Usha Rani, at Vazhapadi in the district, he said people have made up their mind to end the DMK family rule in the state. He claimed that Chief Minister M K Stalin could not tolerate when he proved his majority in the Assembly in February 2017 and became the CM. "The Assembly then witnessed unprecedented scenes and chaos. Stalin (then leader of the opposition) had walked out with a torn shirt," Palaniswami said, and added "Imagine his plight when the AIADMK forms the government with a majority of its own post April 23 election." Palaniswami was referring to the February 2017 incident when he was asked to prove his majority in the Assembly by the Governor. A pandemonium broke out in the Assembly, and the House was adjourned twice. Later, Stalin and his DMK members were evicted. Palaniswami ultimately won the floor test. At the campaign, the AIADMK general secretary said his party-led alliance would win the election and the AIADMK would form the government with a majority of its own.
