New Delhi, Apr 7 (PTI) An Assam Police team on Tuesday reached the Delhi residence of Congress leader Pawan Khera for questioning and carried out a search in connection with a case linked to allegations made against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his family, officials said. Speaking with reporters outside the Congress leader's house, Assam police DCP Debojit Nath said that Khera was not found at his residence. However, he said that a search was carried out and electronic devices were seized. Some "incriminating material" was found but its details cannot be disclosed at this stage, he said The case has been registered at the Crime Branch Police Station in Guwahati, the DCP said. The whereabouts of the Congress leader are currently unknown, but he will be traced, the DCP said. The team formally informed Delhi Police upon arrival, following which a local police team joined in assisting in the proceedings, official sources said. The development comes amid a political tussle after Khera on Sunday alleged that Sarma's wife had three passports and that he had hidden information about her assets in his poll affidavit. Hitting back, Sarma had alleged that the Congress used "false information" sourced from a Pakistani social media group to level "baseless" and malicious" allegations against his wife.
