Bhubaneswar: Oracle recently fired more than 10,000 employees worldwide. One of them was a techie from Bhubaneswar, who was based in Bengaluru. But unlike others, he did not fret, panic or tear his hair in despair despite losing his job with the American tech giant. He decided to return to his hometown and start life afresh. The man with 14 years of experience had planned well to build a financial safety net, which came handy in this hour of crisis. He also decided to use his driving skills to add to his earning by working with Uber until he finds an alternative. His story was shared on X by his friend Nayak Satya. "No panic, no stress. He straight away came back to his hometown, Bhubaneswar," Satya wrote, detailing his friend's financial planning. His friend had invested in multiple postal and bank fixed deposits, which generated nearly Rs 43,000 in monthly interest. With no EMIs or loan to repay, and living at his own home with parents, the techie is benefitting from "pure old school vibes, steady process and discipline," observed Nayak. He is also planning to start a small business with the help of his parents. Nayak said the lesson from his friend is to plan in advance, "so when required you will never fumble." His biggest learning for Nayak was no matter how challenging the situations was, one should "always prepare with a smile."
