Thrissur (Kerala), Apr 6 (PTI) A case has been registered after kits containing pulses and cereals, allegedly meant to influence voters, were seized from a godown in the Manaloor constituency here, officials said on Monday. In a press release, the District Collector and District Election Officer said that on Sunday, a flying squad acting on a tip-off conducted a search at a godown of a firm named Champions Traders in Vadanapally. The search led to the recovery of kits containing pulses and cereals worth Rs 72,542, he said. Based on a complaint filed by the Executive Magistrate, who is part of the Election Commission's flying squad, a case was registered at Vadanapally police station. On Sunday, the Congress staged a protest in front of the godown, alleging that the BJP had ordered kits to influence voters. The District Collector said that in a similar incident reported elsewhere in Thrissur, another case has also been registered.
